Market research is one of the specialties of [George Barna]’s organization in Glendale. Its reports and books describe general trends in attracting baby boomers and other groups to churches and give case studies of approaches that have worked, as well as profiles of the unchurched and factors that keep them out of churches. When Barna first went exploring churches, he was a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey and was about to be married. He and his fiancee, both Catholics at the time, visited different types of churches and found an evangelical congregation that focused on the Bible — and that was the church they joined.
