The family of Sakshi Jhala at Hawa Sadak locality here was astonished at the way their daughter was projected a day after it was found that the special cell of Delhi Policerecovered a Z-10 Blackberry phone gifted to her by arrested cricketer S Sreesanth.
The media barrage outside their home on Wednesday morning forced the family to lock themselves in the house throughout the day. They switched off their cell phones as well.
The father of the girl, Atul Jhala, though kept a distance from reporters on Wednesday, had said earlier that the family clarified to the Delhi Police on Monday that they hosted a dinner for Sreesanth at their residence on May 6. Sreesanth had gifted a Blackberry Z-10 to Sakshi and in return they gifted him a tiger poster.
Talking to TOI, a close family friend said that Sakshi’s father works as a tour escort at Palace on Wheels, a train run by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. She was in touch with Sreesanth for quite a long time and was introduced to him by Sakshi Dhoni (wife of Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni) since both were classmates at an institute in Aurangabad.
Delhi Police has given a clean chit to the family as a senior officer of the special cell confirmed that there is nothing more to be asked from Sakshi. “The only thing we needed was the seizure of a Blackberry phone from this family. During the interrogation, Sreesanth had told us that he had put the money in buying various things and our job was to recover these things.”
Sakshi Jhala was also seen watching a few matches along with Sakshi Dhoni in the stands of Sawai Man Singh stadium in Jaipur. “Since both knew each other they watched a match together and there is nothing wrong in that,” said a family member.
