Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) reportedly has been trying to woo former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa in order to corner senior BJP leader LK Advani.
According to media reports, RSS leaders believe that Yeddyurappa’s return to Karnataka BJP would not only strengthen the party in the state but also would take the party to a new level in national platform.
RSS reportedly have engaged its senior leaders in back-channel talks with the Lingayat leader who earlier was compelled to resign from CM post over several corruption charges.
Yeddyurappa, who launched his new party — Karnataka Janata Party (KJP), is believed to an “asset” for BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha election which is expected to be held in 2014.
The former BJP leader reportedly shares a good rapport with Gujarat CM Narendra Modi who recently has been promoted as BJP election campaign chief for 2014. Advani, who was upset with the decision, had resigned from crucial party posts but later had withdrawn his resignation.
Now, it seems that RSS, a supporter of Modi, has been trying to re-establish its connection with Yeddyurappa who might be proved as a strong supporter of Modi. Co-incidentally, it was RSS leaders who had disowned Yeddyurappa citing corruption charges against him.
